After a tumultuous, enervating three weeks, Americans took to the streets in “No Kings” protests this past weekend to push back against Donald Trump’s growing authoritarian overreach. It was a show of strength and unity from millions of Americans. But why does his noxious mix of chaos, abuse, and right-wing corruption appeal to so many voters? And what does psychology and the latest polling tell us about what works to push back? Is protesting part of the answer? What else?
