“We can’t be cutting health care for working people and for poor people in order to constantly give special tax treatment to corporations and other entities,” said the Senator.

That wasn’t Cory Booker, Chuck Schumer, or Elizabeth Warren. Not Bernie. Not a Democrat at all.

That was Republican Senator Josh Hawley speaking of the Republican budget…before voting for it.

But he was speaking to a gnawing, growing anxiety that Republicans are fully aware of—and that Senator Thom Tillis retired this past weekend rather than having to face his voters on—the Republican “One Big Beautiful Bill” is a human disaster that could easily become a political one.

In my livestream yesterday, I was joined by my old friend Mark Bergman, a communications and media advisor trusted throughout the Democratic party, to talk about

  • Will this bill be every pit as politically painful for Republicans as the ACA was for Democrats in 2010?

  • What Are Democrats planning to do with it behind the scenes?

  • What lessons are Democratic campaign managers actually learning from the Mamdani campaign?

And at the end, we got a bonus appearance from

to make an exciting announcement about supporting independent media (like me!). You can watch the full livestream above, or catch the slightly edited video/podcast below:
